Chris Brown defends tears

Chris Brown has insisted that his tears for Michael Jackson were not fake to gain sympathy.

The singer performed during the BET Awards this year and became very emotional while performing a combination of Jackson songs. It was thought that the star had broken down to win back the fans he lost after he was arrested for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

However, during an interview with MTV News, Brown explained, "A lot of people don't know I was going to see Michael Jackson the day he died. I was on my way to the Staples Centre to see him the day he died."

He continued, "When I heard 'Man In The Mirror', the words started speaking to me in my personal life. It just touched me. It wasn't fake. I know people were trying to put extras on it, but everything was genuine. That was my ultimate apology, hands down."
