Sacha Baron Cohen playing Mercury

Sacha Baron Cohen has agreed to depict the life story of Queen front-man Freddie Mercury in a film.

According to 'Deadline', the movie will cover everything from Queen's formative years to their infamous performance at Wembley Stadium for Live Aid in 1985.

Frost/Nixon's Peter Morgan is writing the screenplay, whose previous works include the Oscar-nominated screenplays for The Queen, is already working on the script for the as-yet-untitled project.

GK Films partners Graham King and Tim Headington will finance the as-yet-untitled picture, while the company has also closed a deal for the rights to include the band's music.

King is quoted, "Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer, so with Sacha in the starring role, coupled with Peter’s screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success."

Supporting the production company, surviving Queen members Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon will offer insight and support through their company Queen Films.

The film is scheduled to start shooting sometime in 2011.
