Many thought dynamic and soulful Crystal Bowersox should have won 'American Idol' this year but the honour went instead to Lee DeWyze.

A rep for Bowersox confirmed to TV show 'Access Hollywood' this weekend that she is engaged to musician Brian Walker. Bowersox is also famously a single mum to a one-year-old son but her marriage to Walker will be her first.

The news has come as a surprise to many, since Bowersox announced after the 'American Idol' final that she had split with her then-boyfriend Tony Kusian only a few hours earlier. The couple apparently plan to wed some time in October.

Meanwhile, don't hold your breath for Bowersox's post-Idol album. While most Idol alums release albums in November to capitalise on America's insatiable appetite for Christmas shopping - Lee DeWyze has already announced his mid-November release date - Bowersox is apparently, and smartly, in no rush.

She says, "I don't want just to have a product, but to have a good product, something that I will be proud of in 10, 15, 20 years."
