Motörhead Lemmy's memorial service to be live streamed this week

The official memorial service for Lemmy Kilmister, will take place Saturday (January 9) at Hollywood's Forest Lawn Memorial Park, and will be live streamed for fans.

A band representative announced in a statement:

"Motörhead is respectfully asking that fans don't attend the service at the cemetery, but the band wants everyone to be a part of this, so they are setting up a live feed of the service via the Internet on Motörhead's official YouTube channel."

The live stream can be accessed here, and will run from 3pm PST to 4.30pm PST (11pm GMT to 12.30am GMT).

The band's Facebook page posted the following:

"We want you ALL to be a part of this memorial service. So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. GO to your favorite bar, or your favorite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home.

“Whatever your venue, and however you can, let’s be sure to gather globally on Saturday 9th and celebrate the life of our dear friend and irreplaceable icon.”

The Motörhead frontman's friends and family will also pay tribute at one of his favourite places, Los Angeles’ legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill.

The venue announced the news on Jan. 2 via its official Facebook page:

'Join us Saturday, January 9th as we say goodbye to a dear friend and loved one. We will open our doors at 2pm.'

The Lemmy memorial will expand to encompass the entire Sunset Strip on Saturday.

Kilmister died on Dec. 28 at the age of 70, just days after being diagnosed with cancer on December 26.

Motörhead released the studio album 'Bad Magic' earlier in the year, and toured through Dececember 11.
