Charlotte Church has moaned that she is still trying to shake off her “chavvy ladette” image despite her best efforts to glam up and calm down.

The songstress, 24, who found fame as a teenager, hit the headlines again recently after she split from 'Strictly Come Dancing' star Gavin Henson.

And in an interview with Wales On Sunday, the Welsh wonder sniped: “My main problem is I've been made into a caricature of this chavvy ladette, a right simpleton, and that's detracting from the main thing, which is my music."

“I never used to mind it really before, but I've got two children now and it's not tomorrow's fish and chip paper because everything's on the internet and recorded for ever.”
