Chilis “halfway through” new album

Red Hot Chili Peppers are hoping to release their first record since 2006’s ‘Stadium Arcadium’ in spring, drummer Chad Smith has revealed.

Speaking to MusicRadar.com, he said: "We're probably halfway through the record. I think we've tracked about 20 songs already, and there's a few more left to do. Then we'll whittle them down to make the best record.”

He added: "We'd like to try to deliver the album in March. We're definitely hoping to have it out by next summer. It's been a long time in coming."

The record will mark the debut of new guitarist Josh Kilnghoffer who replaced John Frusciante last year.
