Rihanna is to open this year's American Music Awards on November 21.

The R&B star is set to perform at the ceremony, which is now in its 38th year.

Rihanna, who releases her new album 'Loud' on November 15, will be joined at the ceremony by acts including Pink, Bon Jovi and Usher. She is nominated for the 'Favourite Female Artist' prize along with artists including Sade and Alicia Keys. 

The singer is due to perform her new single 'Only Girl (In The World)' on this Sunday's (October 24) 'X Factor' live results show.
