Ray Davies to curate Meltdown festival for 2011

Former Kinks front man Ray Davies has been announced as curator of nest year’s Meltdown Festival at London’s Southbank centre.

Davies will be following in the footsteps of such luminaries as David Bowie and Nick Cave as “artistic director” for the event, which takes place from June 10 - 19, 2011.

He says: 'I am thrilled to be asked to suggest what I hope will be a diverse programme, particularly as it marks the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain.'

He adds that he wants to create: 'a creative celebration through the decades, a bridge between the past present and future.'
