Prince was alone at his Paisley Park residence when he died

Prince was the only one at his Paisley Park residence the night before he died. Three staff members arrived on Thursday morning (April 21) and checked on him when they arrived.

Carver Country Sheriff Jim Olson said there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body. He said:

"We have no reason to believe at this point that it's a suicide, but it's early on in the investigation.

"Prince is a very private person and I don't think it would be unusual for him to be there by himself."

The last sighting of Prince was around 8pm on Wednesday (April 20).

Earlier that day, Prince was spotted riding his bike near a suburban strip mall outside of Paisley Park. In a nearby hair salon Julie Reid, 47, was getting a haircut when he rode by. With her hair in foils, she rushed to the door and Prince waved at her.

Next door, he waited outside for a friend to order a drink from Caribou Coffee, employees said. Prince occasionally ordered a coffee from the shop, according to a barista, Alya Al-Hilwani. He preferred a blend: a chocolate cooler, no whipped cream.

Reid said she later posted a photo of him casually riding the bike on Facebook, and wrote: “Prince sighting?”

“Everyone was like: ‘Wait, isn’t he sick?’” she said. “Well, clearly he was feeling better.”

As previously reported, a memorial service is being held at his home later today (April 24). His body was released to his family on Friday after a 4-hour autopsy. He has been cremated.
