Bucks Fizz's Cheryl Baker says OAPs shouldn't perform at Eurovision

Cheryl Baker from Bucks Fizz, the band that won the Eurovision Song Contest for Britain in the '80s says that anyone over the age of 60 should not represent the UK in the contest.

The 62-year-old won with 'Making Your Mind Up' but was baffled that the UK has been since represented by singers such as Englebert Humperdinck, she said:

"When Englebert was representing us I couldn't hear the TV, so when I saw him on the screen I thought, 'Oh what a shame, he's dead.

"I didn't dream it was because he was doing Eurovision for us. That was a big mistake.

"Europe doesn't want to see old folk doing it. They want to see young, vibrant acts and singers.

"This year young lads Joe Woolford and Jake Shakeshaft sang for the UK but we still came third from last.

"Joe and Jake were fabulous. They were gorgeous looking boys and the song was great. The result was a travesty.

"But Eurovision is so big now and there is political voting. We're an island so we don't have any neighbours. And a lot of countries don't like us because we're linked with America."
