Radio 1’s Big Weekend holds minute's silence, plus watch some of the performances

Radio 1's Big Weekend festival-goers in the UK took part in a minute's silence today to pay their respects to the victims of the Ariana Grande Manchester Arena terror attack, which happened this week on Monday, May 22.

Music was halted across all three stages to mark the moment at 3pm this afternoon and met afterwards by loud cheering from the crowd in honor of the city of Manchester.

Radio 1 Breakfast host Nick Grimshaw was present, calling the 25,000 at this year's Big Weekend a “community of music lovers” and adding that everyone has held Manchester in their hearts since the tragedy took place.

In the wake of the terror attack at Manchester Arena, where 22 people lost their lives (including children) and 59 were injured during Grande's Dangerous Woman Tour, security for The Big Weekend in Hull has been heightened. Selfie sticks have been banned, although cameras and phones are still permitted.

BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend has a major all-star line-up, which includes: Katy Perry, Lorde, Kings of Leon, Lana Del Rey, Emeli Sandé, James Arthur, Little Mix, Kasabian, Haim, London Grammar, Zara Larsson, Stormzy, Christine & The Queens and many more.
