Date confirmed for return of popular U.S. sitcom, 'Will & Grace'

Earlier this year, fans were sent into a frenzy, when after an 11 year hiatus the popular U.S. sitcom Will & Grace teased that they would be returning.

Now, NBC have finally confirmed a date for its long-awaited comeback. The comedy show is set to run 12 new episodes later this year. It will air on September 28 at 9pm as part of the channel's Thursday night must see lineup.

There's no confirmation yet about who has picked up the right for UK viewers, but the original run was broadcast on Channel 4 between 1998 - 2006.

Will & Grace originally aired for 8 seasons from September 21, 1998 - May 18, 2006. During its original run the series received 83 Emmy nominations and earned 16 awards.

Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes are all set to return for the new episodes, along with the series creators, Max Mutchnick and David Kohan. NBC's chairman, Robert Greenblatt, previously said:

“We’re thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and most defining comedies in NBC history is coming back.

“This groundbreaking series for everything from gay rights to social and political commentary - all disguised as a high-speed train of witty pop culture - is coming back where it belongs.”
