Although the exact amount has not been divulged, Cowell is said to have also donated to the relief effort for the victims of the horrific blaze.

The UK tragedy happened in London during the early hours of the morning last Wednesday (June 14), when a 24-storey tower block of council owned flats in North Kensington caught fire.

The charity single has already soared to number one in the UK iTunes chart. £0.76p from the proceeds of each download of the song, which costs £0.99p on iTunes, will be donated to The London Community Foundation.

The UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, has agreed to waive VAT on the track.
