Following Prince Harry engagement Meghan Markle hints that she may leave ‘Suits’

Suits star Meghan Markle has hinted that she might be leaving the series after the announcement of her engagement to Prince Harry.

Yesterday (November 27), news broke of the engagement between His Royal Highness and the US actress, and during their first interview together, Markle hinted how her life may alter, suggesting that she may leave the legal show in which she plays the role of Rachel Zane.

Their long-anticipated engagement was announced by the Prince of Wales yesterday morning with a statement saying the couple, who have been dating for 16 months, will marry in the spring of next year.

Markle told BBC News: “I don’t see [my engagement] as giving anything up, I just see it as a change.

“It’s a new chapter. Also, keep in mind, I’ve been working on my show [Suits] for seven years.

“We’re very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series. Once we hit the 100 episode marker, I thought, ‘You know, I have ticked this box’. I feel really proud of the work that I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work as a team [with Harry].”

Prince Harry revealed that he knew Ms Markle was "the one" from the first moment they met.

Earlier, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh said they were "delighted" for their grandson and his bride-to-be, and "wish them every happiness".

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said: "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."

Ms Markle's parents wished their daughter and Harry "a lifetime of happiness", saying: "We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry.

"Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents."
