Star Wars: The Last Jedi grosses over $1 billion at box office

According to studio estimates on New Year's Eve, Star Wars: The Last Jedi grossed over $1 billion three weeks after its release. 

Half of that came from the States, and the UK top of the other worldwide territories with $91.5m. That makes it the number one release of 2017 in the US, and the 24th biggest movie of all time globally.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle came in second place at the US box office this last weekend with $50.6m, taking it to a two-week total of $169.8m.

Pitch Perfect 3 was in third place with $17.8m, taking it to a two-week total of $69.2m.
