'Zombie Boyfriend' Turns Heads at Telly Awards

NEW YORK, June 24, 2011 -- The winners of the 32nd Annual Telly Awards have been announced. "Zombie Boyfriend," a music video produced by Brooklyn Girl Productions and directed by Jenine Mayring for indie artist Emii, won a Silver Telly Award, their highest honor.

Award-winning director Jenine Mayring commented, "It's especially exciting to collaborate with a female recording artist to help convey their unique perspective visually. To have our music video be recognized by the Telly Awards is equally as exciting, and I am deeply honored to receive such a prestigious award." The recent accolade marks the second Telly Award for multi-hyphenate Jenine Mayring. In 2008, she won a Bronze Telly Award for producing a regional television commercial entitled "Making Faces" for NORMS Restaurants, a chain based in Southern California.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past Winner of a Silver Telly and a member of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work; entries do not compete against each other - rather, entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as Winners of a Silver Telly, their highest honor. Other outstanding work is awarded a Bronze Telly.

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the web. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards is a widely known and highly respected national and international competition and receives over 11,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries.
