Labrinth, who is currently No. 2 in the mid-week singles charts, still rates his chances for the No. 1 spot this Sunday in the Official UK Top 40 Albums Chart, even though Professor Green is currently due for the top of the charts.

Speaking to The Independent, the songwriter-producer said:

"I'm at No. 2 but we're just a few sales behind so we can still catch him. Professor Green wants it (No. 1) more than I do. It's early days in my career but he's on to his second album and he needs a No. 1 to kick it off"

Both Labrinth and Professor Green went to the same North London school in deprived Hackney. Labrinth said: "We both went to Stoke Newington School and I used to see him destroying MC's on stage at a club night."

Professor Green's 'Read All About It' single deals with his father's recent suicide and the way it's handled in by the media. The track features Emile Sandé's heart-wrenching vocals.

Labrinth teamed up with Tinie Tempah for the electro/dubstep track, 'Earthquake'. He co-wrote the hit 'Pass Out' with him.

Labrinth came from humble beginnings, he was one of nine children raised by a single mother and is now signed to Simon Cowell's Syco label. Professor Green was raised by his grandmother.

Labrinth warns that kids in his hown town still need to be able to pursue their dreams like he was able to:

"Growing up, there was lots of places I could go to work on my music. I used to make the music teachers stay behind. I worked for years with Rising Tide (a youth music charity in Hackney). We need to offer kids on the street mentors and better opportunities. The rioters had nothing to do."

The headteacher at Professor Green and Labrinth's old school said: "It's very exciting to have both former pupils at the top of the charts at the same time."
