iPod designer gets knighted

Jonathan Ive, the British designer and senior vice president of Apple Inc, has been made a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the 2012 New Years Honours List for services to design by the Queen, an iPod owner.

Ive designed the iPod, and is the leading Apple designer accredited for the look of the iPad, iPhone, iPhone white headphones, and other Apple gadgets.

The 43-year-old was born in Chingford, Essex but now lives in San Francisco, and joined Apple Inc in 1992.

Ive has his own design studio in which he and his team work listening to music by his long-time friend, British DJ and Renaissance club-founder, John Digweed.

The designer was already made a CBE in the 2006 New Year's Honours List.
