Having premiered as the Hottest Record in the World on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show last week and with subsequent plays from Mistajam - who declared in a Certified Banger - and Annie Mac over the weekend, Rudimental are pleased to announce their debut major label single on Asylum Records in association with the cutting edge indie Black Butter.

‘Feel the Love’ is set for release on May 28th, a maximalis tdrum’n’bass anthem full of organic instrumentation including a soaring trumpet break and a magnificent, unrestrained vocal courtesy ofJohn Newman ; the song is sure to be a summer smash.

‘Feel The Love’ comes hot on the heels of Rudimental’s underground smash ‘Spoons’ which has already amassed over 50 specialist plays on Radio 1, Kiss, 1Xtra, XFM and Rinse with support from The XX, Laurent Garnier and the tastemakerblogs.

This hot Hackney based quartet is made up of musicians Piers Agget, Kesi Dryden, Amir Amor and Leon (DJ Locksmith), who navigate through genres effortlessly. As Piers explains “we’re all into different styles of music. When I was young I was listening to blues, and I was listening to Dizzee and grime”, others in the group were into Garage and Hip Hop, or old Soul and 2 Step. "The unifying thing is the soul influence and the bass influence" says Amir, "those two things are always there" alongside the real instrumentation: real bass, real Hammond, real brass, real strings and in the case of ‘Spoons’, real spoons. Not only do Rudimental handle all the instrumentation and production side of their music, they also write the lyrics for their guest vocal talent.

Immersed in music from an early age and always finding a way to forge a career in it, be that on pirate radio (Leon and Piers), producing garage or hip hop with likes of Plan B (Amir) or hanging out at his now prolific Stoke Newington School – the place that Professor Green and Labrinth sprung from (Kesi) - Rudimental have music in their blood.

Alongside ‘Spoons’, a stunning, soulful house duet between vocalists MNEK and Syron, Rudimental have recently remixed Ed Sheeran’s ‘Drunk’Benny Banks and Wretch 32 and are currently working on a remix for Labrinth’s forthcoming single.

‘Feel the Love’ is backed by a wealth of remixes from producers including UKF favourites Fred V & Grafix and Cutline and house dons Scuba and Dusky who all turn in mammoth mixes.

As might be expected of men with such a deep knowledge of the dance genres that are interwoven into London's cultural and musical history, Rudimental also feel a strong connection to their communities and have seen how music can be an outlet for kids from troubled backgrounds. All of Rudimental have all worked as mentors for teens, an experience that was mirrored when they travelled to Philadelphia to film the soon to be released video for ‘Feel the Love’. The film features real kids as it documents an unexpected lifestyle in one of the city’s roughest neighbourhoods.
Rudimental have announced a string of touring dates, taking in the likes of Fabric and The Arches as well as festival appearances at CreamfieldsSW4 and Outlook – Rudimental’s 2012 takeover is in place.
