MAMA & Company to Expand in London - Acquisition of Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen Announced

Thursday 14th March 2013; MAMA & Company is proud to announce the expansion of its venue portfolio with the purchase of East London’s highly regarded Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen. Following the management buyout in December, CEO Dean James revealed MAMA & Company’s plans to develop the live music arm of the business, and this latest addition to an already impressive roster of iconic venues and award-winning festivals marks a further step in MAMA’s growth.

The 450 capacity restaurant, bar and live music venue, situated in the heart of Shoreditch, is renowned as one of London’s most popular locations for intimate live performance and has played host to numerous acts on the cusp of breaking the music industry. MAMA & Company has a long history of promoting emerging talent through its venues and festivals and will continue to programme new music at the Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen.

On the acquisition, Dean James, CEO said; “Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen is one of the premier venues in London for showcasing new talent. We started 15 years ago with The Barfly in Camden and gave first London gigs to bands like Coldplay and Muse. The axis of London's music scene has definitely shifted East over the years and we have long coveted a space where we could do what we do best – promote up and coming artists. With Hoxton we think we have got the best site in East London.”

An admirable list of high-profile musicians have graced the Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen stage in their infancy, including; Mumford and Sons, Paloma Faith, Vampire Weekend, Jessie J and Laura Marling to name just a few. The venue also boasts an impressive line-up for the upcoming months with shows form the likes of Bleech, Story Books, CSS, Ewert and the Two Dragons and Akron Family.

More details to be announced in due course.
