Liam Gallagher criticises Brit music

Liam Gallagher has criticised the current British music scene - laying into bands including Bombay Bicycle Club and Bloc Party.

Despite Gallagher admitting to Live4ever.uk.com that he does not know that many new bands, he picked out a few of the acts he despises most. As well as Bloc Party and Bombay Bicycle Club, he also referenced "Fire Flies" (possibly meaning Friendly Fires) and "Arcade" (possibly meaning Arcade Fire). "Do you want me to say I like Bloc Party?" Gallagher asked. "I don't even know who the new bands are. Do you want me to say I like Fire Flies? Or Arcade… or fuckin' Bombay Bicycle - they can fuck off with that name for a start! He added: "I'm not gonna pick up Bombay Bicycle's record 'cause of the stupid fuckin' name they've got."

Meanwhile, Gallagher also gave more details about how he met his new bassist Jeff Wootton, who is currently on tour with Damon Albarn in Gorillaz. He confirmed that the 24 year-old is part of his new band (alongside former Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock), but that the bassist will only play live for the time being. "He's not going to be playing on their album. Just live. But we'll see how it goes, you know what I mean?" explained Gallagher. "Jeff's an ambitious kid. He's only 24 and he's a fully-fledged musician."
