Lou Reed tribute concert announced

An extensive Lou Reed tribute concert in New York will feature a number of notable musicians, including members of TV on the Radio and the Vaccines.

According to Brooklyn Vegan, the concert, named 'Last Great American Whale: A Concert in Memory of Lou Reed,' will take place tomorrow (November 24) at Manhattan's Bowery Electric.

A score of artists are set to perform during the tribute, including Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio (see below), the Vaccines frontman Justin Hayward-Young (see below), Patti Smith Band guitarist Lenny Kaye (see below) and no-wave artist Arto Lindsay. In addition, soul rockers Hollis Brown will play the Velvet Underground's 'Loaded' from start to finish.

Tickets for the show are on sale now, with profits benefiting the Ali Forney Center, an LGBT outreach organization looking to protect from homelessness in Manhattan.

Bowery Electric will also hold a pre-Thanksgiving food drive the night of the concert for Food Bank of NYC.

Reed passed away at age 71 last month from liver disease.
