Almost 20 years after its release, Alanis Morrisette's 'Jagged Little Pill' is set to become a musical for New York's Broadway.

Composer, Tom Kitt, who adapted Green Day's 'American Idiot' for the stage will be working with Morissette Vivek J.Tiwary and Arving Ethan will be the musical producers.

The Canadian-American singer-songwriter issued a press statement about the project:

"I look forward to taking the heart of 'Jagged Little Pill' and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit, and fabulism

"I look forward to collaborating with Vivek and Tom and our whole inspiring team to create something greater than the sum of our parts."

'Jagged Little Pill' was the third studio album by Morissette, and sold over 33 million copies worldwide, topping the charts in ten countries, including the UK, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Finland and the Netherlands. It ranked on the top 100 on many countries' best selling of all time lists.

Billboard further rated the album as the number one Best Selling album of 1990s.

The musical will premiere in 2014.
