New Amy Winehouse radio documentary

A BBC Radio 5 documentary scheduled to air tomorrow morning (July 31) will reveal that the late Amy Winehouse was overly generous and didn't court fame.

The Double Take programme sees many of Winehouse's friends describing how very generous she was and how she had little interest in the fame game.

Former stylist, Alex Foden, tells the programme: "Inside the house, she so loved always [being] welcoming to anybody who was there. She'd invite her fans off the street. She sent me to rehab every time. She was selfless. She didn't care about money or anything like that.

"Given an opportunity, I think she would have liked to change her life because she loved cats. She'd rather work with cats, had she loved children and cats. All she wanted was to start a family and open a singing school. The price of fame was hard for Amy."

Former News Of The World showbiz editor, Dan Wootton interviewed many of her close friends for the show to be broadcast at 10.15am tomorrow.

Watch Amy Winehouse perform an acoustic version of 'Stronger Than Me' backstage at Glastonbury for the BBC in 2004 below:

Amy Winehouse's third album was 'not complete'

The late Amy Winehouse's third album was not complete, according to her producer Salaam Remi.

Since her untimely passing on July 23, there has been much speculation on the state of her third record and if it will be released posthumously, but Remi has now revealed to New York's Power 105.1 FM that "it's not a complete album":

"We were working on it; it's not a complete album. We had a lot of things going, there are recordings, but first things first, I think. We're trying to focus on what's at hand and what her family wants to do. So those reports (of a release) are false."

"To put it all in a nutshell, Amy loved to sing, to write... that ability never left her. She was very good at channelling her emotions into lyrics, and then being able to sing them. She was in a place to go forward and make it happen... The way that Amy and I always created was she would write and we would toss ideas around."

He added, "Amy had strong opinions on everything... She was very opinionated about what she liked. At the end, she was a real person. She had a huge heart."

All of Winehouse's studio albums re-entered the chart during the midweek update yesterday, July 27, and an incredible seven of her singles found their way back into the Top 40, too.

Adele may have secured the No.1 position in the midweek albums chart with '21', but the rundown really belongs to the late Amy Winehouse.

Amy "passed away happy" says Mitch Winehouse

Mitch Winehouse revealed that his late daughter, Amy, had defied doctors' expectations and had given up drugs completely before her tragic death on July 23.

Speaking at the superstar's funeral yesterday, July 26, Mitch explained that she had been making a "fantastic recovery".

"Three years ago, Amy conquered her drug dependency, the doctors said it was impossible but she really did it. She was trying hard to deal with her drinking and had just completed three weeks of abstinence"

He added, "she said, 'Dad I've had enough, I can't stand the look on your and the family's faces anymore."

Mitch also opened up about Amy's relationship with Reg Traviss and admitted she was "the happiest" he had seen her in years:

"I will talk a lot about her fantastic recovery. Recently Amy found love with Reg. He helped her with her problems and Amy was looking forward to their future together. She was the happiest she has been for years."

His frank speech made sure that mourners knew she was at a peak in both her health and mental state, and he concluded, "but knowing she wasn't depressed, knowing she passed away, knowing she passed away happy, it makes us all feel better."

Mitch Winehouse to launch the Amy Winehouse Foundation

The tragic death of Amy Winehouse on Saturday, July 23, has spurred her devoted father, Mitch, on to create a special foundation to "help those struggling with substance abuse".

Having experienced life with an addict first hand, Mitch told the Daily Mail newspaper that it's heartbreaking to go through and only the wealthy can enjoy the privilege of entering a private rehabilitation clinic in the UK.

This charitable organisation, aptly named the Amy Winehouse Foundation, will aim to defy this exception and will also extend beyond just helping people with drugs and alcohol related problems. He explained:

"I was with my cousin Michael when I heard (about Amy's death) and straight away I said I wanted an Amy Winehouse Foundation, something to help the things she loved - children, horses, but also to help those struggling with substance abuse."

"In this country, if you cannot afford a private rehabilitation clinic, there is a two-year waiting list for help. With the help of Keith Vaz MP, we are trying to change that."

Winehouse herself was no stranger to charity and in 2010 donated her song 'Back To Black' to the Global Fund's Born HIV Free campaign. No further details have been given on Mitch's plans as of yet, but you can watch coverage of the singer's funeral here:

"I have lost my darling who I loved very much."

Traviss revealed that Winehouse had been taking more care of herself recently and added, "she has been full of life and so upbeat recently, exercising everyday and doing yoga. This terrible thing that happened is like an accident."

Amy Winehouse's former stylist and dear friend, Alex Foden, has praised her for helping save his life by spending a massive £130,000 on sending him to a rehabilitation facility.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror newspaper, Foden revealed that the late singer was incredibly loving and supportive when he needed help the most, and that she predicted she would die at a young age:

"Amy always told me she thought she would die young and that she knew she'd become a part of the 27 Club. Although everyone around her knew it was going to happen, it was still a shock. I've been crying pretty much ever since I heard."

He admitted that when they were flatmates, their diet would consist mainly of candy because "heroin depletes the sugar levels in your blood":

"At one point she was basically sponsored by Haribo. They would send us about £200 of Tangfastics and Starmix bags - we had a 4ft high cupboard crammed with the stuff."

Foden added, "she was a funny, generous, big-hearted girl and I have no regrets. She has been such a huge part of my life and I feel privileged to have been a part of hers. I don't blame her for getting me into drugs - I knew what I was doing. Amy spent around £130,000 on rehab for me... she saved my life."

"My heart goes out to her family, especially her dad Mitch, who was like a father to me. This is a total tragedy."
