Amy Winehouse documentary trailer unveiled

A trailer for an upcoming Amy Winehouse documentary has been premiered online.

The late singer will be the subject of the movie Amy, which is directed by Asif Kapadia.

A clip from the film - which opens on July 3 - has been revealed and it focuses on the Brit in her youth.

Universal Music UK CEO David Joseph meanwhile previously said about the film:

"About two years ago we decided to make a movie about her - her career and her life. It's a very complicated and tender movie.

"It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius."

Winehouse released two studio albums before passing away aged 27 in her London home in 2011.

She unleashed her debut record 'Frank' in 2003 before 'Back to Black' hit No.1 in the UK three years later.

The singer's cause of death was later confirmed as alcohol poisoning.
