Amy Winehouse Foundation celebrates first anniversary with huge amount of money raised

The Amy Winehouse Foundation has marked its first anniversary on what would have been the late singer's 29th birthday today (September 14) with the announcement of how much money has been raised.

A representative from the organisation revealed that a staggering £230,000 has been raised since the 'You Know I'm No Good' star's untimely death last summer and they have pledged to make it to the £500,000 point by the end of this year.

Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father, set up the charity to provide support and funds to "young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction."

The Amy Winehouse Foundation also received money from sales of her posthumous album, 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures', which was released in December 2011.

Britain's The Metro newspaper confirmed that the charity has so far donated significant amounts of money to the New Horizon Youth Centre and Fitzrovia Youth In Action as well as providing a full scholarship to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, which Amy once attended.
