Singer/songwriter Cecil to release mesmerizing EP ‘Silly Business’ and UK tourFor singer/songwriter Cecil, music has always been her life's passion. The Berkshire born artist's music has grown in notoriety over the last year most notably being featured recently on BBC Radio 2. She has been championed regionally by BBC Introducing Berkshire and has performed live for both BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and BBC Oxfordshire respectively as well as featuring on many other radio shows in the UK. Now she is set to release her debut EP ‘Silly Business’ Cecil started to show signs of her musical talents from a young age, with a childhood inspired by the sounds of her mother's drum kit, she began to sing in her formative years naturally progressing to sitting at the piano in her early teens. Her musical direction quickly grew from piecing together adolescent lyrics to producing credible songwriting and captivating live performances. Another significant inspiration in Cecil’s journey comes in the form of her Great Uncle, Cecil McGivern. Aninstrumental figure in crafting British War Propaganda programmes in the support of the war effort, which earned him a CBE for services to Queen and Country. McGivern was a broadcasting pioneer and BBC legend who also went on to earn the prestigious accolade of an Oscar nomination for his screenplay of the classic 1946 version of‘Great Expectations’. This shared creative trait and drive for success have always been influential for Cecil who went from strength to strength in 2016, playing at some very notable festivals and venues: Godiva Festival, Royal Henley Regatta and Ronnie Scott's.
