Alex Turner keen to start on new Arctic Monkeys record

Arctic Monkeys’ frontman Alex Turner has revealed that he is keen to get started on the band’s new album.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old said that he plans to begin writing the follow-up to 2011’s 'Suck It And See' during their lengthy North American tour with The Black Keys, which kicked off in Cincinatti earlier this week.

Turner admitted that it's not his usual song-writing approach: “I don't try to write on the road. I might try to this time, just for a change. Usually, I get home and I realise it's bad, so I've not done it in the past.

"We've messed around in sound checks, but I'm not gonna meet a deadline, and it's not like I need to write, though I want a head start for the next time around."

The Sheffield quartet, who recently picked up Best Live Band at the NME Awards, surprised fans by releasing a brand new non-album track, ‘R U Mine?’ out of the blue last month.
