Arctic Monkeys' 'AM' beats Kanye West to NME's best album of the year title

Arctic Monkeys' latest record 'AM' has been named the best album of 2013 by NME.

The music magazine have published their top albums and songs of the year and the Sheffield indie group have reigned supreme in the former.

They beat off competition from Kanye West's 'Yeezus' and Queens of the Stone Age's '...Like Clockwork', which were named No.2 and No.3 respectively.

Daft Punk's smash hit 'Get Lucky' meanwhile was named NME's best track of the year.

In second place is Arcade Fire's comeback single 'Reflektor' whilst Arctic Monkeys' 'Do I Wanna Know?' is No.3.

The Monkeys meanwhile are due to build on their recent success by playing two massive shows at London's Finsbury Park next year.

They will perform at the outdoor venue on May 23 and 24, with Tame Impala, Miles Kane and Royal Blood supporting.
