Avenged Sevenfold score their first ever No. 1 UK album

Avenged Sevenfold have ended Richard and Adam’s reign at the top of the UK album chart with their new LP ‘Hail To The King’.

The Britain’s Got Talent duo have finally been toppled after spending four consecutive weeks at No. 1 with their debut album ‘The Impossible Dream’. This week the pair find themselves down three places to No. 4.

‘Hail To The King’ is the sixth album from Avenged Sevenfold and their first ever to go to No. 1 in the UK. Their previous highest charting LP was 2010’s ‘Nightmare’ at No. 5.

Other new entries to this week’s album chart sees Naughty Boy’s debut album ‘Hotel Cabana’ in at No. 2 and was held off the top spot by just over a thousand copies.

A Bob Dylan rarities collection titled 'Another Self-Portrait: 1969 – 1971' is new in at No. 5. Just behind are Franz Ferdinand at No. 6 with ‘Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action’ and Newton Faulkner has achieved his fourth top ten album with ‘Studio Zoo’ in at No. 10.

A high climber amongst this week’s album chart is Ellie Goulding’s repackaged ‘Halcyon Days’ up a sizeable 23 places to No. 3.
