Avril Lavigne to release new song 'Fly'

Avril Lavigne has confirmed plans to debut a new track.

The singer will release the song 'Fly' in promotion of the Special Olympics, which is taking place in Los Angeles from July 25.

She confirmed the news on Twitter on Thursday (January 8) by posting lyrics to the tune.

Lavigne said: "Just reach up, don't give up until you've touched the sky. Just reach up, don't give up until you've realized THAT WE WERE ALL MEANT TO FLY.

"I wrote FLY for @AvrilFoundation a while ago. I'm excited to share it soon to support @SpecialOlympics! #reachup #musicheals #Fly."

The song was co-written with husband Chad Kroeger and David Hodges.

Lavigne meanwhile revealed late last year that she is suffering from "health issues".
