Avril Lavigne's 'gigantic' house unnerves her

Avril Lavigne may be a pop-punk princess by day, but come night time there's nothing she likes more than to make dinner and chill out.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the 'What The Hell' songstress reveals that she feels a little lost in her "12,000 square feet" gigantic house so likes to relax and take her mind off things:

"It's so big it scares me. At night I like to put on candles and jazz music, and I like to cook."

She also admitted that she's good in the kitchen, and makes great pasta:

"Homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli, with butter-sage sauce. And I get out the wine! I like to put my TV on to the Rat Pack station; it's a music channel. And I like listening to Radiohead and Coldplay."

26-year-old Lavigne also opened up about the first time she met her now ex-husband Deryck Whibley:

"I made out with him the first day I met him. He gave me my first shot of Jäger. I had a tie on — it was back in the days of the tie. I was 17. As I was getting carried out of the bar I saw Chad from Nickelback! Isn't that funny?"

Despite her recent divorce, she also explained that her new record 'Goodbye Lullaby' isn't personally cathartic:

"Deryck is the most talented person I know. He produced, mixed, played guitar and bass. I wouldn't say it's a breakup record. It's about life. I went into it with a mind-set of not trying to write hits. People will make assumptions, but they'd be surprised what certain songs are about."

The full interview will be published in the April 14 issue of Rolling Stone, and you can watch her recent attempt at surfing here:
