Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have tied the knot in France.

The couple married on July 1 - their native Canada Day - at Chateau de la Napoule, a castle near Cannes.

The ceremony was performed by candlelight and was watched by 110 members of family and friends.

Speaking about the event, Lavigne exclusively told Hello!: "I wanted to make sure it’s a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests."

The singer added: "We hope to be together forever. One day down the road we’ll have a family. I look forward to growing with Chad."

The ceremony was the second time Lavigne has walked down the aisle, with the pop-rocker marrying Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley back in 2006.

It was, however, the first brush with matrimony for Nickelback's Kroeger.
