Avril Lavigne on Chad Kroeger: “He’s nice, and real, and kind”

Avril Lavigne has opened up about her romance with fiancé Chad Kroeger of Nickelback and reveals that the Canadian pop power couple actually met while Lavigne was with her ex Deryck Whibley.

Lavigne explains that it happened at the Roxy nightclub in Vancouver over a decade ago: "He didn't even know who I was at that point!" said Lavigne of Kroeger. "I had just gotten on the radio."

"He's nice, and real, and kind," she said. "For me, it's about having a connection on a deeper level." The two certainly have a lot in common and collaborated on Lavigne's album in early 2012. "He does what I do -- he's a rocker, he plays guitar, he's onstage every night and he writes songs," she added.

Avril Lavigne can't stop smiling when asked if her wedding will be in France

Pop-rocker Avril Lavigne has opened up about her impending wedding and her new music during an interview with 92.3 NOW FM.

While she hasn't revealed the date of the ceremony, in which she will marry Nickelback's frontman, she explained that "the most fun part, so far, has been coming up with the location." When asked if the location was Paris or France, the 'Sk8er Boi' star couldn't stop grinning and joked, "I'm just smiling!"

Several other allusions were made to the country during the chat and they all got the same response from the beauty.

Despite enjoying most of the planning, Lavigne explained that getting people's information for invites has been very stressful: "The one thing that was the pain in the ass was getting everyone's names and addresses and all of that stuff."

Speaking about her music video for 'Here's To Never Growing Up', which she co-wrote with fiancé Chad Kroeger, she explained that there were several ideas for the video direction: "I had my original idea and then we had a bunch of different directors submit concepts. The guy we went with had the idea to do it around prom. I loved that. It's like a throwback."

Avril Lavigne teases next single details

Canadian songstress Avril Lavigne has promised her next single will be "loud and impressive".

The 28-year-old singer is unleashing the track 'Here's To Never Growing Up' as the first single from her upcoming new album.

Speaking to 4 Music Lavigne revealed the next single off her album will astound fans: "I think probably a song called 'Rock and Roll'. To me... it's rock and roll, it's a way of life - it's a fashion, it's a spirit and it's also very similar to the first single. You know, the rock and roll spirit like, 'WOOOO!' and going all out.

She added: "And it's LOUD, impressive and it stands for so many other things than just music - that's really what it comes down to - and it's a song that I'm just putting the final touches to now. I wish I could tell you more about it, but you'll have to wait."

Lavigne also teased whether or not the album will feature any other collaborations.

She hesitated: "Umm… that one, which is why I can't say anything yet - we're in the process of making that happen.

"It's not confirmed! I'm trying to do something right now. Like, I've been in the studio for the past four days working and I can't really say anything until it's done."

The 'Here's To Never Growing Up' songstress explained to Etcanada.com that she got a French phrase inked onto her body and 'surprised' Kroeger by taking him to get the exact same piece done to match hers:

"I got 'Live in the Moment' in French: 'Vivre le moment present.' I said, 'I got a surprise for you, took him to get tattooed.' He probably was thinking I was going to take him to the Eiffel Tower or something."

Speaking about their upcoming wedding, Lavigne added that she's tempted to use a song they wrote together as the track for their first dance: "I think we'll just play a song maybe that we wrote together. But I haven't thought that much about it yet."

Pop-rocker Avril Lavigne has revealed that she didn't intend to release her forthcoming new album so soon and it was LA Reid that pushed for an earlier date.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show, the songstress explained that after Reid heard her songs he wanted them to be out as soon as possible and she's actually still working on finishing the album off:

"I've been working on this record for a year, so it's been quite a while. As soon as I played [producer LA Reid] the song, he wanted to put it out right away. So I'm actually still in the studio - I'm still making my record."

"I still have one more song left to write that I'm going to do by myself, because I love to do that. It's important for me. But it's just - it's all happened so fast, and I'm so excited."

Along with confirming that she has done a collaboration with Marilyn Manson, Lavigne added that she's particularly excited about a track called 'Hello Kitty': "I'm really excited about the song 'Hello Kitty' that I've written for this record, because I'm obsessed with Hello Kitty and it's really fun and the sound is different. It sounds like nothing I've done before, and I even throw a little bit of Japanese in it."

"The record's really diverse. We've got these pop-rock tunes, and then these piano ballads with orchestras."

The 'Sk8er Boi' star added: "I have a heavier song that Marilyn Manson's on called 'Bad Girl', and then I've got a song called 'Hello Kitty' that sounds like nothing I've done before.

'Sk8er Boi' songstress Avril Lavigne has revealed that Nickelback rocker Chad Kroeger used a series of polaroid photographs to propose to her last year.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest about her engagement, the star explained that he got really creative before popping the question and it surprised her: "The only thing that was weird was we usually go to the studio together and he had gone before me."

"And I have been making this scrapbook of my time in the studio with a Polaroid camera and the only thing that was weird was I walked into the studio and he was putting a picture in to the book and I was like 'What is he doing?'"

She added: "All of a sudden, I walk over and he had taken a photo of himself holding the ring box and put the Polaroid in my scrapbook and because I had stickers everywhere he put in, 'Will you marry me?' It was really romantic."

When asked about her upcoming wedding, Lavigne confessed that it will be a small ceremony but there is a big theme: "A lot of close friends and family (are coming); it's sort of smaller but it's going to be quite spectacular. There's a theme to it, we're going pretty big; but Chad doesn't even know everything yet!"

The 19-second lyric video precedes the single’s release, which is scheduled for Tuesday 9th April. The featured lyrics include: "We'll be running down the street yelling kiss my ass/I'm like, yeah whatever, we're still living like that.
