Big Black Delta are kicking off 2013 in a big way, announcing shows at SXSW, Camden Crawl & Great Escape in the UK and the release of their new single ‘Side Of The Road’ and debut album, self-titled album. 

This follows on from a year that saw Big Black Delta tour with Jane’s Addiction, The Joy Formidable, M83 and release tracks including ‘IFUCKINGLOVEYOU’ and ‘Betamax’ much to the delight of bloggers everywhere. The band also collected some heavyweight fans with Jay-Z and Dave Navarro taking to their online outlets to heap praise on the band. 

Now comes ‘Side Of The Road’, a slice of rocky, distorted, melodic loveliness from BBD’s self titled debut album, both set for release on April 8. The single will feature remixes from producer extraordinaire Emperor Machine, Dinamo Azari, of Azari & III fame and techno whizz John Tejada. The single is the third from BBD’s debut album also set for release on April 8, a collection of tracks fusing ambient, electronic rock with uplifting melodies to create a sound that refuses to be denied. 

Big Black Delta himself, Jonathan Bates has also been in demand for remixes working with Daft Punk, Rob Zombie, M83, Dhani Harrison’s Thenewno2’s and most recently with Maynard from Tool’s and his new project Puscifer. 

The brainchild of Jonathan Bates (Mellowdrone), Big Black Delta's explosive live show features duelling drummers and an orchestrated light show using visual elements of the bespoke album artwork, which was created by Jonathan himself and creative director Caspar Newbolt. 

No stranger to pushing boundaries, LA based Bates was, until recently, the driving force behind alt. rock favourites Mellowdrone, has been heavily involved in M83’s live and studio sound and has also worked with the likes of White Sea, among others. 

‘Side Of The Road’ and Big Black Delta’s self titled debut album will be released on Masters of Bates Records April 8
