Beyoncé pays tribute to daughter Blue Ivy as she collects Video Vanguard VMA

Beyoncé dedicated the Video Vanguard MTV Video Music Award to her daughter at the weekend.

The singer picked up the special honour at the awards ceremony on Sunday night (August 24).

She followed in the footsteps of the likes of Michael Jackson and Madonna and it seemed to greatly affect the superstar singer.

Her daughter Blue Ivy and husband Jay Z watched on proudly on stage as the singer cried.

Beyoncé said in her speech: "I'm so full. I just thank God for this moment…Blue, I love you. MTV, I love you. My fans, I love you."

The singer also played a short set that included songs like 'XO' and 'Bown Down'.

The US star also grabbed some headlines by performing in front of a large sign that read 'Feminist'.
