Beyoncé's father thinks Jay Z lift scuffle was PR stunt

Beyoncé's father has suggested that the recent scuffle between Jay Z and Solange was engineered to create publicity.

The music world was shocked earlier this year when video footage emerged of Beyoncé's sister Solange appearing to scuffle with Jay Z in a lift at the Met Ball Gala in New York.

Speaking to 104.1 KRBE radio, Beyoncé's father Mathew Knowles said that he thinks the incident was made to help sell concert tickets for his daughter and Jay Z's On The Run tour.

He said: "[They needed something to] ignite that tour. It’s called a ‘Jedi mind trick'. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of the time. All I know is: everyone is talking about it. Ticket sales went up, Solange’s album sales went up 200 percent..."

There have been constant rumours of animosity between Jay Z and Beyoncé since the incident, but ticket sales were been impressive for their joint summer North America tour.

After the lift video leaked, the parties said in a statement: "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."
