Beyoncé outdoor show in Minneapolis evacuated over weather concerns

Beyoncé's outdoor concert in Minneapolis on Monday (May 23) was temporarily evacuated due to concerns over the weather.

Around 35,000 fans had to leave the TCF Bank Stadium's concourse or sheltered areas because officials were worried about a forecast of thunder and lightning.

They considered their options before allowing fans back into the ground at 9.30pm local time.

The Formation tour show began around 90 minutes behind schedule.

Beyoncé told the crowd during the gig: "I am so honoured to be here tonight. Thanks for riding with me through the storm."

Earlier in the day, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton proclaimed May 23 2016 to be 'Beyoncé Day' in honour of the concert.

He said: "Beyoncé has influenced many young girls and women with powerful, positive messages in her songs and thousands of Minnesotans will gather at TCF Bank Stadium to hear Beyonce perform.

"Now, therefore…I hereby proclaim Monday as Beyoncé day."
