Beyoncé's Lemonade loses out to James Corden and Grease at Emmys

Beyoncé failed to win any Emmys this weekend for her hour-long HBO Lemonade visual.

The singer was nominated in the Outstanding Variety Special and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special categories at Sunday's (September 18) US TV awards.

However, James Corden's Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special won the first award.

The second Emmy went to the directors of Grease: Live.

This prompted Beyoncé fans and viewers to speak out on Twitter, with one user writing:

"Beyonce and Lemonade losing to James Corden and Grease: Live! is a metaphor for this election year."

Game of Thrones meanwhile won three times at the ceremony, meaning that it has broken the record for the highest number Emmys won by a fictional series.

It has now racked up 38 awards - one more than Frasier managed to win.
