Beyoncé's '4' enters the midweek charts at No.1

Following her stellar set at last weekend's Glastonbury festival, Beyoncé has shot into the number 1 position on the UK albums chart.

The 'Run The World (Girls)' hitmaker has flown into the charts at the top spot with her fourth studio album, '4', beating off stiff competition from both Adele and Lady Gaga who are at 2 and 3 respectively with '21' and 'Born This Way'.

The Official Charts Company said of her new entry:

"Her new album 4 is currently well ahead of the pack and selling three times as fast as any other album, in the slipstream of her triumphant Glastonbury headlining performance on Sunday night."

Biffy Clyro's 'Revolutions Live At Wembley' is also a new entry at 6 and Kaiser Chiefs' 'The Future Is Medieval' is at 8.
