Beyoncé: 'I've learned so much about myself from having a daughter'

Global superstar Beyoncé has revealed that having baby Blue Ivy has changed her life in ways she never thought possible.

During an interview with Shape magazine for its April edition, the 'Halo' songstress explained that she was afraid of giving birth so she overcame that and has learned so many things about herself while raising her daughter:

"I'm most surprised by how much she's taught me. She's only a year old and I've learned so much about myself from her. Giving birth was one of my biggest fears, and having Blue forced me to face it. And now I recognise the strength I have. She teaches me to focus on the things that truly matter, like family, and to pay attention to each moment, because they go by so quickly."

She added that being a mother is incredible and it's great to hear Blue Ivy call out to her now that she's getting older: "I just adore being a mother, hearing her say 'Mama' and call me when she needs something. It makes me feel like I have a real purpose here. I enjoy all the things people warned me would be tough to handle."

Beyoncé is due to head out on tour next month and will kick off the international run of dates with a performance in Serbia on April 15 and they will come to a close later this summer in Brooklyn, New York.
