Biffy Clyro: 'We've earned the right to headline festivals'

'Mountains' rockers Biffy Clyro have hit out at festivals that book new bands to headline because they feel it's a right that should really be earned.

The band closed Scotland's T in the Park over the weekend and drummer Ben Johnston told the Daily Star newspaper that he can't understand how some bands get onto the top of the bill without having a considerable back catalogue:

"I don’t know how any band considers they’ve enough big hits to headline a festival so early in their career. We’ve earned the right to headline festivals at this stage of our career."

Johnston added that despite having released 6 full-length records, they still get stage fright and deal with nerves ahead of huge performances: "But we still get nervous before a big show like this – there’s no way we’d have been ready if we were headlining after just two albums."
