Boyzone and Westlife could form a supergroup in the near future.

McFly and Busted came together in 2013 to create McBusted and it seems this has spurred the two Irish acts on.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Boyzone star Shane Lynch revealed that his band and Westlife have been in discussions about coming together as one.

He said: "We’re talking about forming a band with Westlife right now.

"It’s something we’ve spoken about for the future."

The two boybands previously performed live together, including as a tribute to Stephen Gately in 2010.

Boyzone meanwhile were announced on Wednesday (April 9) as one of the support acts at a British Summer Time gig in London's Hype Park.

They will warm up for Sir Tom Jones on July 13.
