Ronan Keating reveals West End Stephen Gately tribute

Ronan Keating says he has been paying tribute to late bandmate Stephen Gately whilst performing in London's West End.

The Boyzone singer is currently playing the part of Guy in hit musical Once.

Gately passed away five years ago due to a heart condition and the singer had history on the theatrical stage.

Speaking to the Mirror, Keating said that he has been paying tribute to his late comrade every night with a special item of clothing.

He said: "I wish Stephen was here. I wear red socks every night, because it was Stephen’s favourite colour, so when I take my trousers off in one scene you can see them. It’s my little thing to dip my cap to Steo.

“I never thought I’d get into musical theatre, it was Stephen’s gig. He did Joseph and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, that was his thing and he was amazing at it. We let him get on with it, I never thought I would do musicals, it wasn’t for me."
