Keating, the 'buck-toothed kid'

Boyzone's Ronan Keating spoke today about his 'annus horriblis'.

The boy-band frontman said:

"It’s been hell. I don’t think in any way I’m through it, but I am dealing with it. I set myself up for a fall by appearing holier than holy, and I think there may be quite a few people out there who thought, “Thank God – he’s human after all.” I am. I make mistakes. I’m definitely not comfortable with the mistakes that I’ve made and I’m still trying to resolve them."

Keating was talking about the affair with Boyzone dancer, Francine Cornell that rocked his marriage to Yvonne.

Yvonne pulled Keating out of his drinking despair when his mother died 13 years ago and he became a bottle-of-JD-a-night man:

"It started as a wake and then I just didn’t stop. I’d sit around with my brothers and sisters, talking and drinking, drinking and talking. And you carry on, because that’s the way you deal with it. I hit the bottle pretty bad."

Keating also talked about how he managed Boyzone singlehandedly at the tender age of 21 when he wasn't that attractive: "No, I was a chicken-chested, buck-toothed kid with the worst haircut. I work out now; I’ve got older."
