Boyzone's Mikey Graham doesn't envy One Direction

Boyzone singer Mikey Graham isn't too jealous of the One Direction lads - because big boybands have much less privacy these days.

The Irishman has been part of the hugely successful pop group over the last 20 years but Boyzone were most active in a time where Twitter was non-existent and camera phones were yet to be invented.

The Irish Herald quotes the singer as saying that he doesn't envy being in a massive pop group in this generation due to the increased intrusion levels. He said:

"I think it would be very hard to be in a successful pop band today. Because with the great inventions of modern technology such as picture phones and the internet, there's less and less privacy."

Graham added: "I think nowadays for famous bands they have that lack of privacy. We had it a little easier than they did from that point of view. We didn't have the iPhones out at airports; mobile phones just were starting to come out when we started."
