Fans of Britney Spears and Lady Gaga have been speculating that the two acts could team up soon.

The singers exchanged some curious tweets which opened with the 'Piece of Me' star saying that she will see Gaga soon.

She said: "Little bird told me something cool today. See you soon @LadyGaga ;)."

Gaga then said: "This lil' birdie?"

A collaboration between the two female pop stars has been mooted in the past but nothing yet has come to fruition.

Spears is currently concentrating on her 'Piece of Me' Las Vegas residency, which is due to run for around another two years.

Gaga meanwhile is preparing to take her ARTPOP Ball tour across the world this coming year.
