Britney Spears has raised hopes of a return to music with a series of steamy Instagram videos.

The singer took to the website on Monday (January 25) to post three clips of herself writhing around in a black bikini.

At the moment it is unclear why the videos have been uploaded online.

Many have suggested that the clips were shot as Spears prepares to announce her ninth album.

The singer's last record 'Britney Jean' was released in 2013.

She has regularly teased its follow-up with photos from recording studios.

Spears has been keeping busy on the live circuit in the last couple of years with her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency.
