A rep for Britney Spears has confirmed the singer is alive after hackers spread word on Twitter that she had died.

Fans were left confused on Monday (December 26) when Sony Music's Twitter account posted that the singer had "died by accident". Bob Dylan, who is also a Sony artist, posted a similar message.

The posts were later deleted and a rep for Spears confirmed that the news was a hoax and that hackers gained access to some of Sony's accounts.
