Britney Spears says writing new album was like "therapy"

Britney Spears has likened working on her upcoming new album to receiving therapy.

The singer is due to release her eighth studio collection 'Britney Jean' on December 3 and she has constantly suggested that it is her most personal record yet.

The pop princess broke off her engagement to Jason Trawick in February and she told Alan Carr's Chatty Man that her heartbreak influenced the album. She said:

"Yes definitely, [writing for the album] was like therapy. Most of the songs are about celebrating having a good time. But I went through a break-up with this record so some of the stuff that I went through is on the record."

Alan Carr meanwhile has suggested that Spears will reference her 'Work Bitch' video and get a whip out during her slot on his chat show.

He told fans in a YouTube video to keep watching until the end of the interview to see the whip segment.

The episode featuring the US star will air tonight (October 18) in the UK.
